Light Department

Marietta Dermatology offers a variety of outpatient light therapy or laser treatments for various skin conditions. The most common skin conditions are psoriasis, atopic dermatitis (eczema), and vitiligo, but there are several other skin conditions that can benefit from these treatments. Our dermatologists and physician assistants are highly skilled and are able to evaluate any skin issue. They are trained to select patients who will benefit the most from our light department services listed below.

  • Narrow Band UVB is a typical treatment for skin conditions such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis (eczema) or vitiligo. This treatment is ideal for patients with large areas of skin involvement. Please refer to the PDF link below for more information.
  • Excimer Laser (XTRAC) therapy is a targeted light treatment for patients with small areas of skin involvement or hard to treat/reach locations. It is typically used for psoriasis or vitiligo. Please refer to the PDF link below for more information.
  • Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) is a procedure to treat precancerous lesions (actinic keratoses) on the face, scalp, chest or arms. This treatment utilizes a chemical that targets abnormal cells and when exposed to a light source destroys the precancerous lesions.
